Greek Preparations

Into the land of myths

"The follies which a man regrets most in his life are those which he didn't commit when he had the opportunity."
Helen Rowland

An opportunity to travel to Greece presented itself recently. The excuse is that a friend has free hotel stays at the Westin Athens Astir Palace, a five star hotel with a room overlooking the Mediterranean just outside of Athens. The truth is that I probably would have gone regardless so long as my friend was up for it. I don't mind solo travelling, but some moments are best shared with others.

However, this means last minute planning amid general strike and riot concerns and only a week to fit in everything we want to see and do. After much debate on my part we decide to concentrate on the mainland; ruins, history and legends. The islands will have to wait since I have my heart set on seeing Meteora, a 4 hour drive north of Athens.

The itinerary thus far:
Athens
Olympia
Delphi
Meteora
Hydro-Aegina
